Garioch MCC

‘The Story So Far’

The Garioch Motorcycle Club was initially formed in 1975 by a group of like minded people in and around Inverurie. It continues today as a group of friends from all walks of life who share the common goal of getting the best out of ‘biking’.

Members come from as far as Huntly in the north, Aberdeen in the east, Stonehaven in the south and Alford in the west to get together for anything from a ‘blether and a pint’ to weekends away and BBQ’s.

The club is run on an informal basis with certain members taking on the various tasks that are required to run the club efficiently. Club Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at The Lodge Hotel, Old Rayne and are really an opportunity for everybody to ‘catch up on the gossip’ and plan forthcoming events.

During the summer months there is a Sunday run as often as can be organised between club members leaving from the Square in Inverurie, these runs vary in distance and ability so there is something to suit every level of rider. Meetings and Ride-outs are not restricted to members only, anyone is welcome to come along and meet the ‘gang’ and find out what the ‘GMCC’ is all about.

The biggest event of the year for the club is our annual bike rally entitled ‘Furry Boots The Rally’. It is normally held over the last full weekend in May at Clatt, Aberdeenshire. As always the event is organised and run by club members themselves and its success in recent years has made it one of the biggest rallies north of the border.

It is very well established (this will be our 13th year) with people travelling from as far as the South coast of England and Ireland and occasional visitors from countries across the North Sea.

In excess of 500 people attended the 2004 Rally and 600 in 2005. We've had a full gate every year since so book early to avoid disappointment. The first 500 rallygoers receive a badge.

All in all, the Garioch MCC has undergone many changes since 1975, but the initial concept of a social group for bikers to get together with others sharing similar interests still holds true today.

We look forward to welcoming new members into the club to share the Garioch MCC experience.

See our events timetable for more information on our plans for 2008.
